Director of Coaching

The Premier level of Huron County Youth Soccer Club (HCYSC) is dedicated to providing a highly competitive training path to develop the area’s top players.  HCYSC Premier continually seeks out talent regionally, nationally, and internationally to support our mission. As part of our club’s continual growth and improvement, I am pleased to introduce Coach Maurice Omoya as the new HCYSC Director of Coaching.

Coach Maurice grew up in Nairobi, Kenya, and has played soccer his entire life. Coach Maurice currently holds a UEFA B license making him one of the highest accomplished coaches in the area. This license permits him to work as an assistant coach to professional teams around the world.  As a high school soccer coach, he brought three different teams to national competitions and coached in the Nationwide League for two seasons. Coach Maurice has also developed his players for international success, and in 2006 and 2008 Coach Maurice’s senior teams played tournaments in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

In addition to his extensive coaching experience, Coach Maurice is the founder of the Oyugis United Soccer Academy, a Christian community-based organization in Africa established to serve homeless and underserved children through education, athletics, and positive role models.

Coach Maurice’s philosophy on player development emphasizes finding joy through discipline and hard work.  This philosophy is made evident in each player’s interaction with Coach Maurice. His players smile, laugh, and have fun while they improve under his guidance.

As the HCYSC Director of Coaching and premier coach, Coach Maurice will work closely with CEO Nico Samaniego and Head Coach Chris Wobser to lead practices, coach games, and develop outstanding players.  Coach Maurice’s contributions will leave a lasting impression on our Premier players.

If your children have an interest in soccer, HCYSC has a development path just for them.  With three different levels of training- recreational, competitive, and premier- HCYSC offers a complete soccer experience for everyone.  To learn more about Winter options, contact Nico Samaniego at [email protected].
